Privacy Policy
Last updated 27 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how CodeREM Labs Pvt. Ltd. ("CodeREM Labs", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, discloses and protects your personal information when you use remWERK, our free bookkeeping and business-management tool for Australian tradies and small businesses.
We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). By using remWERK, you consent to the handling of your information as described here.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — your name, username, email address, password (stored in a hashed form) and your business details.
- Business and financial data you enter — the records you create in remWERK, such as bank and cash accounts, vendors/suppliers, clients, inventory, jobs, invoices, fixed assets, debts, GST and transactions, along with any notes or files you attach.
- Technical and usage information — basic information needed to run and secure the service, such as log and activity records, device/browser information and the actions taken in your account.
You can choose not to provide some information, but remWERK may not work properly without it.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- provide, operate, secure and maintain remWERK and your account;
- produce your bookkeeping records, reports and other features you use;
- respond to your questions, resolve queries and fix issues;
- improve remWERK, including acting on feedback and suggestions; and
- meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your business financial data for advertising.
3. Disclosure of your information
We only disclose personal information where necessary, for example:
- to trusted service providers who help us host and operate remWERK, under obligations of confidentiality and security;
- where you ask us to, or otherwise consent; and
- where required or authorised by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of users, the public or us.
4. Data security
We apply security best practices to protect your information — including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, access controls, and an append-only, tamper-resistant activity log designed so financial records cannot be silently altered or deleted.
While we assure you of our commitment to data security, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. As set out in our Terms of Use, we do not accept accountability for risks, losses or unauthorised access that may occur despite our reasonable efforts, and you use remWERK at your own risk. We encourage you to keep your own backups and to protect your login credentials.
5. Storage and overseas handling
Your information may be stored and processed using secure infrastructure that may be located in Australia or overseas (CodeREM Labs Pvt. Ltd. and its service providers may operate across jurisdictions). Where information is handled overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
6. Accessing and correcting your information
You can access and update much of your information directly within remWERK. You may also request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you. We will respond within a reasonable time, and will let you know if we are unable to provide access or make a correction and why.
7. Retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide remWERK, and as required to meet legal, accounting or reporting obligations. Note that, by design, financial transactions are kept as an immutable history — corrections are recorded as reversing entries rather than by deleting the original.
8. Cookies and local storage
remWERK uses a session cookie to keep you signed in and your browser's local storage to remember simple preferences (such as whether the sidebar is open). These are used to make the app work — not for tracking or advertising.
9. Questions and complaints
If you have a question or a privacy concern, please contact us through the in-app Community page or contact CodeREM Labs Pvt. Ltd. We will investigate and respond to any complaint within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above, and your continued use of remWERK means you accept the current policy.
